The new "bauble" light that The Barb had Al install in her bedroom (see pictures further below). The room is staring to look very Moulin Rouge!
The Barb's new couch and chaise all in one. Isn't it to die for??!!
Of course, the old furniture had to be stacked on the far side of the room to make way for the new stuff. Looks kinda like the furniture section at Value Village, doesn't it?
The couch in it's new surroundings
The couch came with Brown pillows (left) which The Barb recovered in tasteful chenille/taffeta (expensive!) covers!
The "value village" area after all the excess furniture has been moved out and it was cleaned up
The "Al Chair" used to sit on the ground, but The Barb decided it too needed to have "feet" and so she went out and bought feet from IKEA and coloured them dark.
The Barb bought some gorgeous cushion covers when she was in London, and of course, she had to redo her bedroom to match (she found the rest of the fabric in New York). These cushions would be the "gold" ones that she found. She made the bench that they're sitting on (also made the bench cushion)
Here's the bed, with gold duvet cover, new shams and the "red" cushions that were part of the London set
The Barb also found a lovely throw that she uses as a curtain for her closet
With the left over fabric, The Barb made a quilt (the colours are off, they should be all reds and golds, not pinks etc)
This is a "Robin" cd unit from IKEA that sits very close to the entrance. The cds that show are not very attractive so The Barb decided to make a door to put on it.
This is the door being made. The mdf board was painted off-white and the moldings were painted light green
"After". Doesn't that look so much better?
In her never ending decorating quest to fill the house with enough furniture to push the walls out, The Barb has purchased yet another huge shelving system from IKEA.
This picture is the answer to the obvious question: "Where the hell did you put it?? You already have more furniture stuffed in that house than God!" The answer is "right outside the kitchen."
Big Consumer Accident.

Little IKEA Lack table "before"
("Before" I lost my mind and went insane)
The table after a weekend of hell, high heat, and running out of grout. (By the way, the light tiles are a pinky colour, not white). Incidentally, it's good to cultivate neighors that have good "spreaders" to borrow and fabulous to find another neighbor that has grout sealant (I didn't even know it was supposed to be "sealed").
Round table I got from Liz. "Before".
"After". I was washing grout off at MIDNIGHT. Seems they forgot to mention on HGTV that you are supposed hire little elves to come and do your work for you when you shut the cameras off. Word of advice. Do NOT do this project in major summer heat without a giant umbrella and a rain barrell full of water. (It is a given that you go out covered in bug spray).
The Table Base that took forever to find. (I don't know if you can tell that it's green). It's to die for.
This would be a "before" shot of the telephone table
That dark stuff is woodgrain Mac Tac. It took 4 hours to strip off
View of telephone table from another angle
It's still ugly any way you look at it
Doors and Mac Tac Off
Primer Base coat on
Doors with colour on (the black squares are where I was contemplating
doing some decoupage on the doors)
The Finished table (I think -- may change the colour)
Telephone table WITH telephone!
