The Barb visits Toronto

The Barb Went to Toronto just after Rememberance Day and had a fabulous visit with family and friends (well, friend).

I got to see my two sisters, Gail and Bea (Bea just moved down last weekend and is trying to find a new place).
Fabulousness in action.
Of course, the niece and nephew were adorable. Check out the droolmeister (who is no longer drooling). Isn't she cute?
This is her with me and Bea

Of course, Michael is quite the little man now.

One of the highlights of the visit was catching up with Damien Atkins.

We managed to get together for a four hour chat at Star Bucks (NOT the one that decided that Damien wasn't suited for employment there because he insisted on saying "you're welcome" to people when they said "thank you" to him -- a long (and funny) story -- ask him). Damien is up to such exciting stuff. He's remounting "Miss Chatelaine" in January and is starring in "Shopping and Fucking" in February (see What are The Barb's Friends Up To for dates and times and ticket prices and if you're in Toronto at that time, you have no excuse for not going).

We also managed to keep the guy that was eavesdropping on us fairly entertained, expecially when Damien acted out the "Stewardess" scene from Miss Chatelaine (again, GO SEE IT). And that wasn't all. Damien has written a new play, which he described to me in vivid detail (and I'm under death threat not to reveal neither plot nor source) that I can't wait to see.

We had such a hoot. We covered every other topic imaginable, including emotional intelligence (who's got it and who could use some) and of course, no visit is complete without a full complement of dirt flinging and dishing. (what fun, who needs an episode of "Will and Grace"!)

It was worth fighting traffic to see him. Speaking of traffic -- holy shit! The day I went to see Damien, they had closed off one of the freeways (something to do with a sinking bridge or something -- "so what!" I say, "let it sink") and although the drive in was only a half hour -- the drive home took over 2 hours! How do people in Toronto live?!

My sister Bea (you might know her as Elaine) who moved to TO just last week, came to pick me up and she took the following photo of us. Now if that doesn't look like the fridge magnet of the year, I don't know what does! (for those who know what I'm talking about -- order your fridge magnet now, so I can print the requisite number of copies).

The Next Fridge Magnet

What a fabulous trip!
