This list (like the Off-Road Driving Guidelines) was stolen pretty much
verbatim from the owner's manual out of my truck.
Driver Checklist
Before entering the vehicle:

See that windows, mirrors, lights, and reflectors are undamaged, clean,
and unobstructed.

If any tire does not look normal, check it with a pressure gauge, and add
more air if necessary.

Look for fluid leaks.

Be sure everything is propery stowed.

Check the area behind the vehicle if you are about to back up.
Before driving off:
-
Lock all doors.

Adjust the seat.
-
Adjust inside and outside mirrors
-
Always properly fasten your seat belt. Check that seat belts for
all other occupants are fastened properly. Never let anyone ride
in the cargo area or any other place in or on the vehicle where there is
no seat belt.

Check that all warning lights work as the key is turned to "Run" or "Start"
-
Check all gauges (including the fuel gauge).

Release the parking break.
