The Bird of Prey

by Joseph H. Corney

Here is an osprey feeding on fish. This Northern European based bird of prey feeds exclusively on fresh water fish, which her mother brings to her. It only travels south outside of the breeding season. It kills mice, fish and other birds as well, to feed her young ones in the nest.

The eagle is an endangered bird, but many of its eggs are stolen by poachers, and sold for money. And many of the birds are killed by farmers spraying their fields to get rid of mice and other animals that the birds eat, like rabbits, small insects and other small animals. The eagle and other wild birds, like Kytes, sparrowhawks, and sea eagles, are protected by the RSPB.

There are some osprey nests in Scotland. The kyte and sparrowhawks are mainly founnd by motorways. At funfairs, some sideshows, and some circuses, birds of prey catch meat from people, that they swing around their heads.
