Waggon's
New Year
RevolutionWhilst the traditional revellers were whooping it up round the fountains of cities like London & Birmingham, to the chimes of Big Ben, patrons of Bentilee's Waggon & Horses public house were having their own New Year Revolution.
Said one patron who was there on the night, "Three disputes seemed to break out at once. Chairs and tables went flying, some people were injured and needed first aid, and the police had to be called to calm things down."
'Mysteriously', the pub hasn't been opened since, and when we asked the landlord when they were re-opening, he had 'no idea'. Asked about the proposed arrival of a new landlord, under the takeover brewery, Burtonwood's, he had 'no idea'. Neither could the brewery, based in Warrington, shead any light on the pub's re-opening. And now rumours are rife that the building is structurally unsound, so maybe the answer to its re-opening will be 'never'?
