Action Line
Action Line is an helpline service for indivuals and community organisations throughout North Staffordshire and South Cheshire. If you are bored, fed-up, with nowt to do, then Action Line may be able to use your skills, or will 'know a man who can'. If you have a problem, big or small, then Action Line may be able to help you, or will 'know a man who can'. If your community group or project needs 'on air' publicity, then Action Line may be able to help you, or will 'know a man who can'.
Action Line puts out appeals, on behalf of individuals or groups, each weekday on BBC Radio Stoke in two regular slots (9:30am & 2:10pm) with updates at 11:20am and around 3:45pm. Individuals who want to make an 'on air' appeal for help should approach Action Line through some kind of organisation e.g. the Social Services Dept.
Organisations, or individuals with offers of help, can ring Action Line direct on:

The "Bentilee Exchange Skills Together" group meets every Thursday at the Willfield/Queensberry Community Education Centre, up at Lauder Place North (the old High School).
They provide facilities for knitting, sewing, painting, and with the possibility of learning to play an electronic keyboard, or tinker on a computer, surely a bargain for just a 30p donation towards the tea & coffee supplies?
Officially, the group is only for the over 55s, but if you're anywhere near 55, and you can get there between 10am & noon, or/and 1pm & 3, you'll probably be warmly welcomed.
A part of the Bentilee Volunteers & Neighbourhood Project, those not sure if it's for them, or if they're eligible, can ring B.E.S.T. on:
S-O-T 598014.
The Willfield Open Learning Centre guarantees a warm and friendly welcome to anyone interested in improving their skills with number, words, talking to others, or finding out about "Information Technology" (including computers, word-processing, typing, and office skills software). And get yourself a City & Guilds certificate at the end of it! Just ring the centre on S-O-T 599144 for more details, and ask for Centre Manager, Peter Marsh.
Thank Clowes' It's Tuesday!
There's no reason to stay at home watching the repeat of the re-run of the 70s sitcom with Harold Clowes' Community Hall's Social Club, every Tuesday night.
They have indoor bowling, table tennis, pool, darts, cards, dominoes, skittles, and even a bar from opening (7:30pm) until 10:30pm.
Membership is a snip at 75p a year, just go along on the night to join.
So after a long day wishing it were Thursday, why stay in? Thank Clowes' it's Tuesday!!
