NU TRIBE MOVEMENT TROUPE

In March of 2004 SSW Productions expanded the youth division to include  the Nu Tribe Movement Troupe.  Nu Tribe is a unique step team (and a free program) that blends captivating step routines with drum beats, poetry and other African and African American art forms. Starting with only 7 members the group now has 24 enthusiastic youth members.  The majority of Nu Tribe Members are middle school (JHS) students however, members range from 8 to 20 years old in age.  The group is under the direction of SSW founder L. Monique. Local resident and college student Misty Smith serves as Captain by instructing and inspiring the group with captivating routines.

MOVEMENT WITH PURPOSE - Nu Tribe Pride!

Boosting cultural pride and esteem comes from self knowledge.  Well run team oriented environments strengthen those attributes.  That in mind, Nu Tribe is not purely about learning synchronized movements.  Time and attention to the importance of unity, the origins of step and their influence on African-American culture and the arts is stressed.  Participating members of Nu Tribe are consistently being groomed to become professional performers capable and ready to perform for various audiences both locally and out of the Sullivan County area.  As members of the SSW family, annual venues are readily available via SSW productions.       *Group photo coming soon
