I. The Star Wars Celebration, April 30, 1999

After work on April 30, Heidi and I went to the Star Wars Celebration at the Rocky Mountain Air and Space Museum.  This was the only such event sponsored by Lucasfilm in the world, and happened to be located less than 5 miles from my house.

Upon first entering the area, we saw two huge tents, and there was a large line outside the front of one.  We later learned that this was Stage A.  We decided the line was too long, and went into the main hangar.  There was no wait at all.  We walked in and immediately saw Anakin's pod from the new movie, and visited all the other stops in the hangar.  We even stood in a very long line for the Hasbro toy area, which had all the toys displayed (none were on sale until May 3rd).

We had a lot of fun, and started to leave at about 7:30.

On our way out, we heard that Jake Lloyd was speaking on Stage A, and we tried to get in, but couldn't.  However, people started pouring out before Jake announced "Before you go, here's something you may have seen before!" Everyone rushed back in, and we rushed with them.  They played both trailers on a pretty big screen, with huge speakers, and we got to experience them along with the cheers of the audience.  It was pretty exciting.
