Bernard Derriman - Open-side Flanker

"All I remember was hitting the ball up into the defense and then managing to offload to Paul. I don't know why he kicked for touch after that. I still don't."

Kevin Lynch - Right Wing

"I remember that play. I was out on the wing. I could've been a contender."

Tim Sutton - Scrum Half

"I can't remember back that far."

Sam Shepherd - Spectator

"I just couldn't believe it."

Jason Lincoln - Hooker

"...we were playing a high calibre game that day and that kicking out was a mindblowing

decision, but I can still remember the pride I gained from playing alongside the potent

attacking weapon that was, and I'm sure, still is Birmo. "

Mr Whealing - Referee

When Paul received the ball he had a chance of glory which alludes so many. Here was his defining moment- would he accept the challenge? Alas Paul had a brain explosion and kicked the ball.... As the ref I was gobsmacked and totally perplexed. There are few incidents I recall with such clarity in all my years of referring.

Paul Birmingham - "People only remember the 'option'. I remember the kick. Sheer Poetry."
