Yelpers - The Often Overlooked Call

Suction yelpers are alot like wingbones in that they are harder to learn and be consistant with. This is probably the main reason why most hunters don't take the time to learn to call with one. But when it is mastered, many believe that the sounds created from a yelper is the best turkey medicine on old Tom, especially in high pressure areas.

They claim that the sound is different to the gobblers. In high pressured areas, the birds have just about heard enough of the diaphram and friction calls. Yelpers have a little bit different sound and that could mean the difference in calling in a bird or going home without any supper.

I don't know but I plan on using a yelper this coming spring. I have practiced most of this past year and feel confident about calling with one. I'll keep The Boxcall Page readers posted as the new season gets going on the message forums.
