Singer, songwriter, guitarist, drummer, bassist, keyboardist, laptop genius, producer... Originally from New Zealand. Has played drums &/or bass for Brass Bed since 1999 (in 2001 he had 2 years off to live in Japan). Concurrently he formed his own industrial art/noise group called BLIND KUNSTLER, who performed with instruments, tools (chainsaws, sledghammers..) and industrial waste (light bulbs, fuels, steel, concrete..) in abandoned warehouses around Melbourne.
2003 found him back in Melbourne where he re-joined the 'Bed on bass &/or drums. He's working on a mass of recordings preparing for the 2nd release from GERDA BLANK. In 2004 played bass with Brass BedFellow STU THOMAS in THE CELESTIALS. Mid-2005, he went to Europe (via NZ) for a lightning music research tour/holiday, landing in London for an extended stay, where he did some production work for rappin' youngsters in Brixton and joined the band ANGELS FIGHT THE CITY. After touring the UK with the group, he flew home to NZ for more production/writing work in a project called KAPITAL, which has had some success on the NZ charts. He commandeered a theatre and GERDA BLANK continue to play & record. Late 2006 sees Rhys working in the band HUNK MOTHERS. He some other members will hook up in London to back DAMO SUZUKI. Never without a fresh idea, always ready to play and always chasing the elusive muse....
