Released May 2001 on Corduroy Records, BrassBed took a great leap into a proper studio (Atlantis, Melbourne) to record. (Nick Philips, Corduroy Head, made a great leap of faith in releasing the album.) Only a couple of 4-track things appear between songs (plus the "No Vacancy" track, which was created by Stu & Del around '94-95). Stu was touring Australia a lot with Kim Salmon & the Business, Barb Waters and Luxedo around this time, so decided to finance the first album. It was recorded the day after a great gig at the Esplanade, St Kilda. We just set up live like onstage & played it as much like a gig as we knew how. Then, there were 2 months on-and-off of additions by Stu mainly, plus guests. Dave McCluney at Atlantis did a good job keeping interested in the project, & Craig Williamson slogged away heroically with Stu on the rather complicated artwork.
