January 2003

Happy holidays to the friends and family of Mommy (Karen) and Daddy (Kevin)!

2002 has been full of surprises, most of which has been in preparation for little ‘ole me, Tyler Nathaniel Thomas Bryson. You can just call me T.N.T or "dynamite" for short.

2002 started off with Mommy and Daddy still blissfully celebrating their honeymoon with little time for a formal get-a-way. Mommy dragged Daddy off to Connecticut the first week in May. While she attended a certification workshop in an emotional intelligence instrument, they extended their stay for a honeymoon. This included a little rustic bed and breakfast, a red convertible rental car, and a trip to beautiful Newport, RI.

Not knowing I was conceived 4 days before, Mommy and Daddy bought a new family car the end of March in preparation for future family plans. Mommy found out the day after her birthday (April 3rd) that I was indeed coming into their lives! Weren’t they lucky?!

Mommy was busy still working at the Center for Creative Leadership as a Manager of Individual Leaders Development, and slowly passing the torch to the interim manager for her upcoming maternity leave. She was also busy working on her doctoral dissertation in Human and Organizational Development in hopes of graduating this summer. Daddy started working for Prime Selections as a meat wholesaler while continuing to work on his degree in Electrical Engineering. So Daddy was able to keep Mommy supplied with her well-needed protein when he brought home new products to try. Yum yum!

Well, my expected due date of December 12th came and went. I’m already getting a reputation for surprises. To spare you the long story, I finally made my arrival on December 17th after some hard labor. Daddy was a wonderful labor coach. He even bought a "New Dad" cap to welcome me into the world. I, unfortunately, spent half of my first week at home hooked up to a phototherapy system for a case of jaundice. Mommy and Daddy called it my "disco jacket."

December 24th marked Mommy and Daddy’s one-year wedding anniversary and my first week birthday. We celebrated Christmas on December 29th with the whole family including both sets of proud grandparents who just adore me. Of course, how could they resist?!

We hope you had a wonderful holiday season. Best of love, luck, and wishes for an even grander 2003!

Happy Holidays,

Tyler Bryson

(and Mommy & Daddy)
