We follow our Good Shepherd,
He goeth on before,
He died upon the cross,
To open Heaven's Door.
He will feed and guide and keep us,
Until this life is o'er.
We have His precious promise,
He goeth on before.

And we his sheep do follow,
We hear His gentle voice,
I give to you Eternal Life,
It makes our heart rejoice,
And blessings so abundant,
For us He has in store.
For He's our loving Shepherd,
He goeth on before.

We know that He will lead us,
Beside the waters still,
And into rich green pasture,
That we may take our fill.
But if perhaps we enter,
The valley dark and sore,
We know our Loving Shepherd,
He goeth on before.

He goeth on before
To prepare a place above,
He goeth on before,
We marvel at His love,
And very soon He'll come again,
He'll rise and shut the door,
And we will meet Him in the air,
For He has gone before.
