"Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee" Matthew 26v35

This statement made by the apostle Peter on the Mount of Olives, the night our Lord Jesus Christ was betrayed, was a very bold and challenging statement on his behalf. Peter here declares to the Lord Jesus and the other disciples that he would never deny the Lord Jesus. I believe that Peter truly didn't want to deny the Lord Jesus, but he had a problem which the Lord later pointed out in verse 41 "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.". This was Peter's proplem, his spirit was willing to serve the Lord, but he was trying to do it in his own power. "yet will I not deny thee".

Is this not like us at times? We try and do things, but relying on our own strength to do them. Instead of relying on God to give us the strength to do things. We can try all we want in our own strength, but it won't profit us spiritually. We have to give up our lives to the Lord Jesus, so that the Spirit might work God's will in our lives and bring glory to God. Only then will we grow spiritually and our lives bring glory to our precious Lord Jesus Christ.
