There are lovely words of comfort, For everyone to see, Just open up the Bible, And read Psalm twenty three. This psalm is like a beacon Shining forth in words of gold. Bringing Consolations, To all who would behold. The Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want, How good these words to hear, They lift the burden from the heart, And drives away our fear. He leads His sheep in pastures green. Beside the waters still, His rod and staff give comfort, His sheep they fear no ill. My head with oil, Thou dost anoint, Its fragrance rich and sweet, And in the path of righteousness, He guides our wandering feet. And even if our feet should tread, The darkening valley, as David said, Our Shepherd, He is ever near, To give us comfort, stength and cheer. A table then, Thou dost prepare, So His sweet fellowship, we share. For in the presence of the foe. Our cup of joy shall overflow. Thy goodness and Thy mercy, Shall suely follow me, And in Thy house for evermore, My dwelling place shall be.
