VINCE CAPTURES 2ND CHAMPIONSHIP
As both the 1999 Club Champion and author of this article, it is difficult to be both colorful and humble. Consequently, I will simply relay some facts about the two day championship tournament. Most striking is the final round. While only 7 strokes separated the entire field after the first round, the final margin of victory was nine strokes. The differential for Vince's final round 82 (net 67) was nearly two full strokes lower than his next best round. Vince had the only two scores in the 80s all weekend. After a doom and gloom opening nine of 48, he posted nine hole scores of 40, 40 and 42. While there was a lot of groaning about the right to left nature of many holes at Reid Park, all agreed that the course was in excellent shape. The greens were true and pin placements tough; so tough that Scott K. took six putts on one green, so true that he holed his birdie putt on the next hole. While no bloated birds were seen this year, Jeff's curse on #16 continued. From my perspective, it was a great tournament. I appreciate everyone's congratulations. You can check out the Champion's Plaque proudly displayed in my family room all year. Thank you. |
