Vince Catches First Lobsterfest in Fourteen Years The gear has been set and the landings show a good start to the 2006 spring season along the north shore of PEI. There are many signals that indicate it's time for the CMGC premier tournament, but that's the classic one. Lobster fishing can be a hellish job. The weather is usually bad around PEI in May and June with cold wind and rain coming off the Canadian mainland. Lobster fishing is dangerous too and there are few lobster fishermen with their full compliment of fingers.
The 2006 Lobsterfest returns to Turnberry on the east side of Columbus. This Arthur Hills course holds many traditional Lobsterfest values in that it is receptive to low scores, yet tightens the nerve on the closing few holes. The narrow number 17 has decided more than a few rounds. Jeff McCorkle holds the gross score record at Turnberry with a 76, Scott Kern's 63 has the net score record and Vince Resor recently posted seven consecutive 4s on the back nine. The tee times both days begin at 8:12 am. Ths 2006 Lobsterfest Feast will be at Tom's house again this year. Given the projections for light attendance, the format will be BYOL. The best bet is the $8.99/lb deal at Giant Eagle. Tom will have his grill fired up and the pot boiling. Of course everyone needs to bring their own personal specialty side dish. The weather is iffy so pay attention on the first tee Saturday morning for additional updates. See you soon! |
