Jeff Wins Lobsterfest Number Seven

Upper Lansdowne hosted the 2007 Lobsterfest and brought back memories (and results) of the 2001 and 2004 Lobsterfest. Jeff McCorkle extended his record of Lobsterfest wins to seven and extended his sweep of Upper Lansdowne to three. The Lobsterfest is our first major of the year and generally produces sub-par winning scores. Jack Kidwell's design earned high marks for its fairness of play and and the continuous improvements were appreciated. There's always something new at UL.

The small field gave everyone a great chance to win, but Jeff ran away in his group with a first round net 66. Things were tighter in the second group with Vince, Steve and Scott K all tied at 74 after the Saturday round. An eight stroke lead is pretty comfortable and Jeff cruised to a net 71 on Sunday to win by six shots.

Here's how the field shook out.
1. Jeff Mc, 66+71=137, -7
2. Vince R, 74+69=143, -1
3. Scott B, 76+70=146, +2
4. Scott K, 74+74=148, +4
5. Steve H, 74+75=149, +5
6. Tommy, 83+70=153, +9
7. John K, 69, DNF
8. Richard J, 75, DNF

The traditional Lobsterfest Feast began way back in 1992. We made the trek up to Indian Lake and spent a cold, drizzly weekend at Toad Island. The feast was truly grand. Two cases of live lobster were flown in from my friends on Prince Edward Island. It was the beginning of a grand tradition. Grown children, new children, demanding careers and grad school are all combining to change that tradition. This year we all went home to our respective homes and ate whatever we usually eat on a Saturday night. Maybe next year...
