Power Ranking is statistical overview of the 12 CMHL teams, GM’s talent is not taken into consideration.

Rankings are based on stats gathered from the following 9 categories.

1    Team depth (averaged overall rating)

2    Team speed (averaged all skaters speed)

3    Forwards speed (averaged all forwards speed)

4   Defence speed (averaged all d speed)

5   Endurance (averaged team endurance)

6   Checking (averaged team checking)

7   Top forwards (totalled from 12 fastest forwards)

8   Top dmen (totalled from 8 fastest d men)

9 Goaltending (totalled from top 2 goalies)

#1 Anaheim Mighty Ducks
Speed kills, and this team has speed to burn .The ducks lead in every speed related category.
Having the quickest team bar none has solidified the power rankings top honours even though se7ens squad placed low in most other categories 8th in depth (overall team average) 9th in team endurance and dead last in checking! The Anaheim solution is if the other team never has the puck you don’t have to check them!

#2 Pittsburgh Penguins
Placing 2nd in 3 out of 5 speed categories places Mario’s boys firmly in the second spot.
This team is well balanced. Boasting 3 of the highest rated face off men in the league and a fantastic offensive threat, however there is a chink in the armour, placing 9th in defensive speed has us wondering if a speedy, rushing defenseman is on the CM’s wish list?

#3 Detroit Red wings
Balance is the whole story here. 2nd in team endurance, and having three of the top 10 rated players in the endurance category, are the only things grinder will be able to brag about in the lobby. Placing in the top 5 of most categories shows that this team is well built and should be able to maintain its current pace.

#4 Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers earned this spot by slightly beating out Tampa. Placing 1st in checking, and endurance, 2nd in Depth, and 3rd in forward speed proves gremlin has all the tools to play a solid two way game. Defence speed is a concern, placing near the cellar in both defensive speed categories. I suggest Edmonton management gets in d hunting mode quick before they get beat to the punch!

#5 Tampa bay Lightning
Greased lightning! This team is fast through and through. 3rd in team speed and all forwards speed, 2nd   in   top speed and 4th in top d speed, The only things keeping this team from moving up in the PR standings was a modest 8th place in team endurance, and a 10th in team depth, this problem is curable with a little maturing. Young guns should be considered a serious threat in the east.

#6 Montreal Canadians
The Habs take the 6th spot on the strength of their D. Placing 2nd in both defensive speed categories and third overall in team depth. The new management might want to retool the offence when they discover they finished second to last in the top forward speed category and 8th in overall forward speed. A couple nice draft picks will do wonders but with all this fast d, I hope cable 33 has call waiting!
