PLAYOFF PREVIEW
VS
PREVIEW:  Anaheim won both games in the regular season by scores of 6-2, and 9-2.  Points leader Knoxville had 6 points in the two games and will have to be shut down in order for the Avalanche to pull off the upset.  The Ducks finished 1st in the West with a 27-6-3 record while the Avalanche went 18-18-0 to finish with a .500 record for the final playoff spot in the conference.  The Avalanche's defense is one of the best in the league allowing just 219 goals against, their problem was goal scoring where they only scored just 250 goals.  If they want to win they'll have to keep the games close and get timely scoring or else it'll be a quick series and win by se7en's Ducks.
WESTERN CONFERENCE
VS
PREVIEW: The Oilers won the season series 3-1 by scores of 9-5, 6-5 and 22-2, the lone Canuck victory was by a score of 13-7.  The 22-2 win was vs the comp, so really it was a 2-1 Oil win.  The Oilers record of 26-6-4 for 56 points, edged the Canucks record of 27-8-1 for 55 points so the Oilers get the home ice advantage.  This will be a Offence vs defense match as the Canucks have the best defense in the league allowing just 203 goals against during the regular season.  The Oilers  outscored the Canucks 382-286 so it'll be up to the Canucks defense to shut down Selanne and company.  The Oilers were swept by the Canucks last years playoffs so the Canucks have proven they can get it done in the playoffs, while the Oilers have yet to do that.  I expect this to go 6 or 7 games and could go either way.
EASTERN CONFERENCE
VS
PREVIEW:  The Penguins won the season series 5-1 winning games by scores of 9-3, 12-9, 9-5, 11-6 and 13-10.  The lone Detroit victory was an early season 11-10 win.  The Penguins are the defending champions and had another amazing season going 33-2-1 for an astonishing 67 points.  They scored more goals than anybody (454) and have the 2nd best goals against in the league allowing just 210 goals.  When you have the best offense, and a great defense your opponent is in trouble.  The Redwings started the year out on a roll but finished with a 16-18-2 record worst of all playoff teams.  Even still this team improved greatly over last season and has made the playoffs for the first time in the CMHL and has proven they can beat anybody.  If they can put their game together they might have a chance at upsetting the Penguins.  Spankda Monkey had a great season finishing 8th in league scoring tops among all defencemen and will need to be a factor to give his team a chance.
VS
PREVIEW: Washington won the season series 2-1 winning by scores of 13-11 and 8-6.  The Lightnings victory was by a score of 6-5, so each games was very close. Washington has home ice advantage thanks to a 21-13-2 record good for 44 points, compared to the Lightnings 20-15-1 for 41 points.  In order for the Lightning to win they'll have to shut down the Capital's D.Laplante.  He had a break out season scoring 136 goals in just 36 games to lead the league.  Washington was 1 of only 3 teams to score over 400 goals this season and has plenty of skilled players on that team.  The Lightning went through a gm change this season with Young Guns taking over after being retired for some time, so their season was quite remarkable all in all.  YG has promised the Capitals the crease cut will be in full force and it'll be up to Hec's D to shut it down.  YG is also great controlling his goalie as a 3rd dman so this should be a very interesting series to watch.  Who knows who'll win this series as both are capable if they are on their game, and I'd be suprised to see someone win it in less than 6 games.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!!!
