I only bothered to send three cards - to my parents and grandparents. I got the same amount back, so that's nothing to worry about. It would have been awful if other people had sent me cards, but they didn't so things are looking good there.
As for electronic greetings, I think I sent about 40 and received less than half back. I couldn't be bothered to count. Oh well, thanks people! I feel a little down knowing I took some time to find a greeting and most people couldn't be bothered to even just e-mail me back and say "Thanks Rach. Merry Christmas! Have a wonderful 2003!" Never mind, I tried.
My grandparents were the only people who sent me Christmas Cards, and I only sent them cards so things are good there as well. Thank you!
Maybe next year I will send proper cards to everyone - to those people I have addresses for, let them know what I'm up to. I would have just finished my first three months at college, so should have plenty to talk about. But as I write this, I don't know that many people's addresses. People may have moved from where they were two years ago. Do I really want to waste money on sending cards that have a unknown probability of reaching the receipent? No!
Well I did get into the mood of listening to my favourite seasonal songs. They did make me feel happier. It was almost as if I was back home in Cornwall as I listened to them. As I previously said, Canada doesn't have a tradition of the songs that I know and loved, except for "Last Christmas". But as I listened to this song, it doesn't seem to be exactly the same song that I listened to on Christmas Day 1999. I wonder why. And I discovered that Savage Garden recorded their own version; that was played several times as well.
Remember I was talking about the alternative 12 days of Christmas? Wicked song! I tried to write down the lines, but they went so fast that I couldn't try. But I did a search and found Bob & Doug McKenzie's version. However, I can now tell you that there aren't presents for the whole 12 days; they get bored of doing it, and they scrap presents 9 through 12.Here there are:
* A beer in a tree
* Two turtlenecks
* Three French toast
* Four pounds of back bacon
* Five golden toques
* Six packs of two-four
* Seven packs of smokes
* Eight comic books
I feel I should give credit to Mr. McKenzie & Mr.McKenzie for the above information. I gathered my information off the site "The Real Forge"
