HEALING HANDS II
Love again next time - Lawrence Ng

My heart is like the ocean
Just as calm, just as peaceful
So it is I who found love
Lonely too often, I deal with it alone
It is something that can't be help

Chorus
So I wish to love again next time
This is how the story goes
Meeting, growing close, then leaving
It's hard to feel this way again
I walk amongst the crowd
But this simple uncomplicated friendship led to love
Nothing has change, I don't want to repeat the story again
It is me that can not let go
I've been unlucky so I don't dare to believe in miracles
It's hard to believe that they exist

Repeat Chorus

I only wish I could make this last
This wonderful thing will last
Only One Night Can Love - Flora Chan

Only one night can love
Only I have difficulties leaving
You unexpectedly return today
Only one night can love
My body is like a big ocean
The color of the sky changing colors again
Your handholding me
My today becomes heavy with pain

Chorus
Come a new century, I still love only you
My heart was fill with happiness
You are heartless, I can't love you anymore
I can only reminisce
From now on, we are no longer together
I don't love you anymore

Only one night can love,
Your body language hasn't change
When there's emotional contact, you let go
My today, I have feelings too
My heart still belongs to you

Repeat Chorus

All that's left is for me to remember
Tomorrow, we are no longer together
The days after today, I cannot love you
But my heart is left with you
Can't Say I Love You - Bowie Lam

Didn't love enough
Didn't understand how to love
If you give up on me now
Then let the wind curl up inside me
I know it pains you
I'm the one that didn't understand happiness
If you had stay, I'd never forgive myself

Even if I whispered "I love you"
I wasn't ready for you to hear it
But I still think of you despite my pain
Cannot stand being alone
I can't say how much I love you out loud
But I ask for you to love me whole-heartedly
There are no fresh flowers to surprise you
So how can I ask you to smile in joy?
I can't say how much I love you out loud
But even till the day I die, I'd still love you
It's meant to be
I ruined a perfectly good relationship

Didn't love enough
Is because the lighter was too old to catch fire
And the speech was too hard to say
Love and relationship last too long
I didn't want to hurt others
But my deepest regret lives on
If the mirror does not display you
I would look at myself and reflect why
Sedate Me - Kit Chan

I will accept the blame for that moment
Hurt me once more, I can take it
But you can't leave when my back is turn
Why do you have to do that?
Do you not know how I would feel?
But you continue to leave without saying a word

This moment is the most painful
It's more painful then dying
I bandaged the wound but it's not enough
All I can do is wait for you to feel guilty
Wait for the day you'll return
When you'd surrender to me

Bridge
There's no reason why I treat you so good
It's actually really ridiculous
Can someone teach me how to stop this wound from bleeding?
I have to get used to the fact that I will always have to wait
He knows what I want so why does he keep finding excuses?

Chorus
Please sedate me
Let me dream
So when I'm unconscious, my heart will not hurt
When the sedative pass
I'd discover the wound only grew deeper for you
I will not want to let go
Wish you could one day find yourself feeling remorseful
Synopsis

This sequel to Healing Hands was much anticipated by all.  Everyone wanted to find out if Jackie (played by Ada Choi) wakes up or not and lives happily ever with Paul (Lawrence Ng).  Well, it didn't quite work out that way.  First of all, the whole cast has changed.  Gil (William So) passed away, Nick Cheung married Angela Tong and they immigrated to England.  Joe (Steven Ma) and Helen (Astrid Chan) married and joined "Doctors without Borders" program so they live aboard.  The new hospital staff consists of Henry (Bowie Lam), Dorothy (Kit Chan), Chris (Raymond Cho), Paul, MC (Moses Chan), Tracey (Yoyo Mung), Anson (Maggie Sui), Suki (Fiona Yuen).  Suki's boyfriend is Edmond (Michael Tong) who plays a cop.  Flora reprised her role briefly as a lawyer and Henry's girlfriend.

To break it all down...

Jackie does wake up and spent a couple of episodes being happy with Paul.  Alas, happiness does not last as she dies in a fire.  Paul was sad and left for England.  When he came back, Tracey falls for him (after MC broke things off with her) but it took Paul awhile to warm up to her since he still missed Jackie.  He eventually got together with her but she was diagnosed with her mother's illness and required brain surgery.  It was during this time that she realized that Paul would always put his patients first rather than his personal life.  Jackie understood that and accepted it.  If Tracey wanted to stay with Paul, she would have to accept it too.  After some deep soul-searching, Tracey decided that she could live with Paul being the way he is and came back to Hong Kong to have him do the surgery.  The surgery was a success.  The two got back together and Jackie gave her blessings in form of a dream she shared with Tracey.  Their last scene showed them watching the sunrise from Jackie's favorite spot and snow falling.

Annie and Henry appeared to be happy but you can see that something was missing from their relationship.  Every time Annie wanted to get closer to Henry by suggesting marriage or moving in together, Henry would change the subject.  Annie wanted more of a commitment from Henry which he wasn't able to give her.  At work, Henry and Dorothy didn't really like each other at first but both slowly grew to understand each other.  They had a one-night stand.  Also, Fion (Koo Gei Kwan) showed up in Hong Kong saying that she was Henry's legal wife.  When Annie found out, she took off for America and left Henry.  Annie felt betrayed.  First by her friend (Dorothy) who slept with her boyfriend, then by Henry for lying to her.  How could she stay with someone when he has a wife for the past 3 years?!  After the night they spent together, he pretended nothing happened and told Dorothy to forget about the whole thing.  Fion, also a lawyer, came back to see what kind of relationship still exist between her and Henry.  She still has feelings for him but Henry continued to treat her bad.  In the end, Henry wised up and grew more mature in terms of relationships due to his mother dying of cancer.  He realized that the way he treated women was wrong and made up with Dorothy and Fion.  They both urged him to seek out Annie as she obviously is the one for him.  The last scene has Annie showing up at Henry's apartment wishing him a Merry Christmas.  They hugged and Henry had tears in his eyes.

Anson had a crush on Paul but realized that he would only love Jackie.  Suki is her younger sister who is training to follow in her sister's footsteps.  Suki had a pretty solid relationship with Edmond until he hurt his leg and can no longer be a cop.  He switched to be a lawyer and developed a crush on Fion.  Suki broke it off with him when she found out he liked Fion.  After Fion turned Edmond down, he wanted to get back with Suki but it was too late.  Because of her close association with Paul, Suki was murdered (the killer thought she was Paul's girlfriend and wanted revenge).  Right before she was murdered, Suki forgave Edmond by writing him a little note.  The note said that even if they are not together, she still wished him to be happy and live a productive life.  Anson took her her sister's death hard but understanding that Suki would want her to be happy, she decided to take a chance on Chris who happened to be younger than her.  The ending had them dating happily and Chris striving to become an SMO (Senior Medical Officer aka head of the emergency room).

All in all, this was an okay series.  My expectations were not met but it was still worth watching.  Some things I had problem believing are: 1) Snow in Hong Kong?  I know it's supposed to represent miracles but come on! 2) How can a public general hospital look so nice and fancy?  3) Is the hospital's cafeteria supposed to be for staff only?  I never see any visitors eating in there.  4) Annie coming back to Henry after all the things he had done.  In the first one, he brought a girl home to her house and cheated on her right there.  Now he cheated on her with Dorothy, not once, but twice!  Then he conveniently forgot to tell her that he has a wife!  What kind of man is that?  No wonder why she writes postcards to Paul and not to Henry and on that note, I don't see why Henry should get jealous about Annie and Paul when he was cheating on Annie.  5) White pigeons representing the spirit of Jackie and Suki, how common and uncreative is that?

Some nice surprises: Joe (Steven) coming back in the end as a guest and bringing back memories from the first series.  Nurses became more of an intricate part of the whole hospital scene whereas before, you didn't really the nurses.  Maybe it's because I recently saw
Taste of Love but I now find that Annie (Flora) has more chemistry with Paul (Lawrence) then with Henry (Bowie).  Or it could be the fact that Henry is more of a jerk than previously thought. Other nice parts are when Jackie woke up and you can see how Paul lights up whenever he sees her.  They are a very cute couple and the memories of them from the first series come haunting back (especially when Jackie is putting snacks in the tin box for Paul).  Paul and Tracey just did not have the same chemistry.  But it was cute when Tracey saved Paul's messages and kept replaying them.  There are already plans for Healing Hands 3 with the hopes that Flora and Ada will get more scenes this time around.  Hmm, how will they bring Ada back?  And this time around, let's hope that Tracey (Yoyo) gets more of a character plot rather than a replacement for Jackie.  This actress can do so much more than an Ada-look-a-like.

Rating: $$$ and 1/2 (It would have been a four if Steven, Ada, and Flora had more scenes rather than have Lawrence and Bowie being the only ones from the previous series carrying this new one)
