Calling
Card
Its
been a busy summer here and I have finally gotten around to creating a TCS
calling card. The purpose of this is to leave our card for prospective
members, and issue them an invitation to join TCS. We already have one
volunteer (besides myself *grin*) who would like to do this. If you feel
you are interested in occasionally dropping our card in guest books when you
see an inspiring site, please let me know. Many thanks.

Here
is some technical information. This is not exactly the usual theme for
The Creative Spirit, but it is extremely useful...and a nice change!
Reformatting
the Hard Drive!
Did
you know that your computer needs a spring cleaning, just like your house?
De-fragmenting, running scan-disk, removing temp files and cookies is not
enough to clean out the Windows System files of accumulated (and I mean LOTS
of....) debris. When we surf, download, install and uninstall programs,
we collect a huge amount of useless miscellaneous files. The Internet
loads us up with most of that! Having all that junk on the hard drive
can cause problems and crashes. Some computers may even have a complete
meltdown due to all this extra material.
Reformatting
the hard drive is the only thing that really cleans up the computer.
Ideally, one would reformat once a year, or more often. Once you have
done it you will find that Windows boots up and shuts down MUCH faster.
You may recoup as much as 2 Gigabytes of space on your drive! And you
will fix up all of those annoying problems and idiosyncrasies that haunt your
machine.
Windows
95 reformatting requires the owner to add in the peripherals separately--those
things like your CD-Rom drive. Windows 98 and 98-SE does all that for
you. Newer versions of Windows, like Millennium, often provide the owner
with a super-CD that sets up everything, leaving only special add-ons like a
burner or web cam for you to install.
I
will admit to being a computer geek *grin* and get called names like 'Cyber
Queen' and 'Our Computer Guru'. This inspired me to write up a little
guideline on 'How To Reformat Your Hard Drive'. Don't panic! With
GOOD notes it is pretty easy. Over the years I've reformatted many
times, and on different computers. I started off with some primitive
notes--which left a lot to be desired! Little by little I added my own
secrets and tips. So if you are an owner of Windows 98 here is how you
go about reformatting....click on the scrolling bar for complete instructions.
And.... may the force be with you!

PRESENT
The Vietnamese
Buddhist monk and philosopher, Thich Nhat Hanh,
writes about
enjoying a good cup of tea. You must be completely
awake in the
present to enjoy the tea.
Only in the
awareness of the present can your hands feel
the pleasant
warmth of the cup. Only in the present can
you savor the
aroma, taste the sweetness, appreciate the
delicacy.
If you are ruminating about the past or worrying
about the future,
you will completely miss the experience
of enjoying the
cup of tea.
You will look
down at the cup, and the tea will be gone.
Life is like
that. If you are not fully present, you will
look around and
it will be gone. You will have missed the
feel, the aroma,
the delicacy and beauty of life. It will
seem to be
speeding past you. The past is finished.
Learn from it and
let it go. The future is not even here yet.
Plan for it, but
do not waste your time worrying about
it.
Worrying is worthless. When you stop ruminating about
what has already
happened, when you stop worrying about
what might never
happen, then you will be in the present
moment.
Then you will begin to experience joy in life.

From his book
"Only Love is Real"

Quote of
the Day
"Be
courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried
before you give them your confidence. True friendship is a plant of slow grow,
and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled
to the appellation."
~ George Washington ~
