Netscape:
One of our members says that sometimes his browser crashes when viewing the
TCS newsletter. Since his computer is relatively up to date, I believe
the problem lies with his Netscape browser. Most web pages are viewable
in both IE and Netscape but there are some Java scripts and music that may not
be. I realize that some folks really love Netscape, but in the last 2
years the statistics say that IE has become the standard, with between 80% and
90% of users. I no longer check my web pages in both browsers for this
reason. Unfortunately, I have no suggestions. However, if a reason
for not switching to IE is because you will lose your bookmarks, there is a
solution . Yahoo offers a bookmark
option called 'Companion'. It will import all your bookmarks, and also
store them online. This is especially useful when you reformat your hard
drive, too.
The
tall ships have made a stop along Lake Ontario in Canada, at the beginning
of a long world tour. Our member, Dreamfeather, took some fine digital
photos last week and we have one here. You may see and read more about
these ships at her website HERE.
Last
week I posted a picture of a spectacular iceberg. Many people said
they would like that picture to send to friends, so I have posted the original
(without my background added) and you may download it HERE.
Thank
you for all the compliments on my graphics, websites, and this
newsletter! Some people have asked how I learned this, and how they
might too. I am largely self-taught. Over the years I've met
people who had some hints and that always helps. I also study and edit
source codes, and when I see a page I like I use that code, along with my
own graphics. The process of delving into HTML codes in this way is
very educational and much more fun than just studying HTML. I design
all my pages myself, using self-created graphics, or public domain
artwork. I use Paint Shop Pro 7 for most of my artwork, but also work
with MS Photo Draw, Adobe Photoshop, and Ulead Photo Impact. If you
would like assistance on anything I am happy to help out.

Our
membership is growing, though its not always visible. We have two new
associate members--that is, people who do not have websites and with no
immediate plans for one, but wish to receive the newsletter. At this
time they wish to only do that and not have names or e-mails posted
yet.

Character
is doing the right thing when nobody's looking. There are too many people who
think that the only thing that's right is to get by, and the only thing that's
wrong is to get caught.
