It's
officially summer in this part of the world, and to kick it off we have a
beautiful seasonal photo. This scene was
captured by one of our members, Dave Grant. Dave is a professional
photographer and has contributed several of his excellent photos for us to use in our
weekly newsletters.
This
image is of Pink Lake, in the province of Quebec, Canada. It is a very
deep, unpolluted lake, located within national parkland and
maintained by the federal government. There are old abandoned mica pit
mines along the western shore. A walking path takes visitors around the
entire 3 mile perimeter of the lake. If you would like to see more of
Dave's work, please visit his
website HERE.

House Unveils Energy Plan, Incentives for Hydrogen & Fuel Cells.
President
Bush's National Energy Policy Development Group (NEPDG) issued its
long-awaited report calling for a series of 105 recommendations, many of
which could impact the use of fuel cells and hydrogen. Recommendations of
interest to the fuel cell industry include: tax credits for the production
of electricity from landfill methanol gas that could employ fuel cells;
development of a hydrogen education campaign; tax credits for the purchase
of new hybrid or fuel cell vehicles between 2002 and 2007; support of the
DOT's fuel cell-powered transit bus program; and encouraging the development
of combined heat and power units. www.whitehouse.gov/energy

In an effort to banish smog from Canada's cities, the federal government has
announced a $23-million initiative to bring fuel-cell vehicles out of the
labs and on to the streets.
Over the
next five years, stations will spring up at select locations in British
Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes, which will refuel
ultramodern cars with hydrogen instead of gasoline.
