Caution

Hello fellow Ghost Hunters! I wanted to bring up some very important issues. Safety and Respect! Ghost Hunting for some is a fun thing to do as a hobby once in a while, but for others it has turned into a passion. Investigations can take you to many many places and you will experience many things that can not be explained and others that will be self explanitory. I will be listing on this page the obvious dangers and hidden dangers.

The environment, which you hunt, can be full of hidden dangers. Be aware of the terrain, stability of a structure, be it a cemetery at night or day, old abandoned buildings or home dwellings. You can get sprain ankles/ legs, broken legs/ankles, cuts of all kinds, black widow bites/regular spider bites, falling objects, dust from older places can affect your breathing, head injuries, tripping and falling, arms, hands and fingers. So pretty much you should just be careful all around! Just use common sense and make sure your team members do the same. A good ghost hunt is a safe ghost hunt!

I recommend a fully stocked medical kit, charged cell phones and plenty of light, drinking fluids and warm clothes depending on the weather. Just be prepared. Most of this stuff sounds like overkill, but it’s better to be safe than sorry!

Another danger I wanted to bring up is man! I’ve been in the law enforcement field for a while. I know what man can do and I’ve dealt with allot. Most of these places you will go to investigate are abandoned and. Many of the places out here in Ca. have what we call squatters. They are usually homeless people and drug users who find a place to sleep or use their drugs. Mike and I have encountered this on several occasions. For us, we expected this and were prepared for any unexpected surprises. These people can hurt you!! Just because they are homeless does not mean they will not do anything. Being desperate in a closed environment without any law enforcement around gives them an opportunity to rob you or worse. You possibly will encounter drug users who may be high and are also capable of anything. What I’m getting at is be careful and always have some, means of communication with the outside and your team members. Be completely aware of your surroundings at all times.

Animals also can be a danger depending on where you are and what kind of animals are in the area! We all know what wild or scared dogs can do!! Also raccoons and any other animal that is surprised by you or feels trapped can become very dangerous. I was also a veterinary technician for 4 ½ years and know how dangerous a trapped animal can be. You also will encounter wild feral cats and those guys can be very nasty and will attack you if cornered or surprised!! Be careful!!!

Trespassing!! Here we go folks! If you trespass you CAN be arrested!! To many of your beliefs of just walking away with a ticket or a warning you are wrong!! Depending on the police officers responding you will either get a ticket or go to jail! So it can go either way! Just remember that when you hop that fence or go into a area or dwelling where a sign is posted “NO TRESPASSING VOLATORS WILL BE PROSECUTED”

Respect for the deceased and living. If you are conducting an investigation in a cemetery or any other place and you do damage something. Do the right thing and contact who ever is in charge of the dwelling or property and take care of the damages. Don’t be like these other people who can give a rats arse!!!! That is how are beloved historical cemeteries and properties become off limits to us. Do the right thing!

Placing information or pics of a place where you have investigated on you page is ok to do as long as it is open to the public and you have the ok from the owner. We had one incident and only one incident when we first began The Delta Group in 2001 where we placed info on a cemetery that we did not know was private and protected. We investigated it and at the time we did not see any “no trespassing” signs anywhere and the cemetery was wide open and there was trash, beer cans and tire marks all over the place along with broken headstones. We placed pictures of the damage and commented on how disrespectful people are and so on. Well! We were contacted by an organization that owns and protects the site and they told us to remove the pics and info or they would sue us. We obviously explained to them there were no signs posted and the area was wide open, but they told us vandals had taken the signs down. So we did just that we apologized and took all the info of off our site. Just be careful and pre –investigate your info first before conducting the actual investigation.

More to come!!
