Halloween

Halloween has come up on me fast this and unfortunately every year! I will be keeping this page up all year round and from time to time posting NEW information on it. Halloween is a spooktacular holiday where Ghouls & Ghost, Vampires & Witches and all the creepy things that go bump in the night, can come out to have fun! Along with this great holiday comes responsibility and things you should know. We look forward to this holiday every year and it should be all about fun and safety.

Supervision - Never let your children go out unsupervised by a responsible adult no matter where you live! I can't stress that enough! All it takes is a minute for your child to disapear!!

Light - It is always a very good idea for children and adults to have some sort of light with them while out and about. This way you and the children will be able to see where they are going at all times! This also comes in handy while crossing those dark streets. Make sure you have checked your batteries and bulbs on your lights before you go out. Using the different colored snap lights are also very handy and placing them into your candy bags/pumkin buckets or safety pinning them on your costume will also make you more vissible to others.

Vandals - Unfortunately all cities have them, some more than others. Keeping your pumpkins out over night now a days gives the vandal things to destroy! They usually smash them on your property or they take them and throw them out in the streets. The same with your decorations! For those who go all out every year and has spent lots of money to do so, know what I am talking about. I go all out every year and pay the price!! They steal things and destroy things. For those of you have have not experienced this, you are very lucky!! It defiantely gets costly year after year. If this does occur and you witness this, don't threaten anyone or touch anyone. This can cause a lot of problems for you and someone may get hurt. Identify the individual(s) and notify your police dept. I remember hearing a story a few years back of some kids stealing some Halloween decorations and the owner who came out was elderly and he shot the teenager. Its just not worth it!!

Candy - There was a time when people would put broken glass, pieces of broken razor blades, rat poison and inject chemicals into candy with a syringe. I can't explain what would make someone do that to another human being let alone a innocent child! Make sure you talk with your children and drill it into there little brains that they can not eat any of the candy unless you have checked it first! Stay away from unwrapped candy! Check all wrapped candy for cuts and pin holes! Smell the candy and closely inspect it after taking it out of the wrapper! With fruit you will have to do the same thing. Inspect it very well before your child or anyone for that matter consumes it. Try and remember the homes you went to just incase you do find something that should not be there. That way you can let the authorities know.

Home Invasion - Halloween is a time for fun, so you will get kids of all ages. You will get an occasional rebel rouser dressed up and causes problems. You also will have people who will take advantage of the Halloween season and dress up in costumes like everyone else to hide their identity.Be very cautious and try not to give candy out by yourself. Try and have someones present and the telephone by you with sufficient lighting. Be aware of the people who come to your door and watch there body language.

More To Come!!
