1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, "You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?"
4 Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
The Problem
A talking snake is absurd, rendering the Bible a mere fable.
The Answer
The talking snake, as anyone with the most basic Bible knowledge would know, is the great deceiver, Satan, who is undebatably capable of speech. Concerning fables, the dictionary definition of the Middle English word "fable" states that a fable may contain talking animals, but this does not prove that Genesis is a fable. A cat isn't a dog simply because it has a tail.
