Sunrise at 13,500 feet

Navigating the boulders without a defined trail

Although the sun was just starting to rise, it was getting cold.  Everyone took out their winter hats and continued on.

Six miles into the seven mile trip, we hit the boulder field.  The trail ended at a camp site.  There were three or four tents full of people who had camped that night.  A professional photographer had a tripod set up as he waited for the early morning sun to strike the keyhole at the right moment.

The rest of the trail up to the keyhole was marked with little piles of rocks.

Contemplating the nature of the rock, and man's relationship to the rock
