Completed 04/14/2001 3:04am "Counter" took a relatively short period of time. As in, I only spent three days on it... Actually, four. But I worked on the pic ALL DAY Friday until about 3am, as it says at the bottom of it(I'm going to start putting the dates and times on piccies for my convenience.). What does the word "Counter" make you think of? Perhaps a page counter that tracks how many visitors/hits you get on your site...? Actually, counter refers to a kitchen counter. Or in this case, my bathroom counter... I was just sitting up there in a pair-o'jeans one day earlier this week. Looked in the mirror, liked the pose, considered making it into a pic. A few days later, I tore a few sheets of paper out of this diary (that I never wrote in and is currently being used as jot paper), grabbed the nearest utensil, which was a green coloring pencil, and headed for the bathroom. I sat on top of the counter, did a few very quick very ROUGH drafts in slightly different poses. You must understand, I've drawn myself in the bathroom several times-- It has good light, a big mirror, a place to sit(the counter --and the sink-- though I have brought in a stool before), and a lock on the door. Not a lot of space, but enough. I was in the bathroom for half-an-hour before I got on the iMac and doodled out drafts. The next day I got the shape I wanted, messed with some heads, thought of clothing ideas... I settled on something different for once, silver bands things on the legs-n-stuff. I created a headpiece I had wanted to make and use for quite sometime, then I worked with the hair. I have to say, I'm really pleased with the way I did the hair this time. I worked hard on it man, and used a different, experimental process for me. Anyway... I didn't mean to make the pic so teal-colored-- Another version of "The Daughter Teal" was not something I desired(I had just done a sequel to "Purple's Love" called "The Wrath of Purple", and it was also a sort of sequel to "Teal", because she was included in the picture). I tried to stay away from teal, but the background elements needed to be that color-- helped tie in the hair I guess, or rather, the hair helped bring it all together. I considered gray, but the girl was already completely gray(I used only colorless grays for the entire body excluding the hair), didn't look good. So tealish is how it turned out, and I didn't want to screw it up. Counter appears to be more teal-colored, and "Teal" looks more blue-- a cyan really. Kinda typical. ;-) Okay, I've blabbered about this piccy enough. Someone please just tell me to shut up.... ;-) Ah, it's so good to have another human-spacey pic done. I still have this one I was working on, but I don't know if I'll ever finish it 'cause I'm stuck. Maybe in a few months. Hey, remember, it took me over 5 months to complete "The Wrath of Purple". Heh. Okay, Thee, SHUT UP NOW PLEEEEASE. *silence* |
