Pit Bulls have superior mental and physical traits. This makes them a great breed in the right hands. This is not a breed to be raised by just anyone. They require a lot of time, care and nurturing. If you don't have that, this breed is not for you. They need plenty of exercise. Most remain very playful throughout their lives. Pit bulls are a very loving and loyal dog. They will do anything to protect their family, including giving their own lives. They will not think twice before jumping to your rescue if needed. They are very determined dogs and do not give up easily. When they set their mind to something, they mean to accomplish it. They must be trained withouht any physical discipline. An owner should be firm and stand his/her ground, but not yank, pull or in any way be physical with this breed. This would teach them that agression is appropriate and you do NOT want an aggressive pit bull. Before getting a pit bull, or any dog for that matter, be sure that you will be able to care for him for the rest of his life. Think long and hard about it. Once you've accepted the responsibility, please don't turn your back on your beloved pet.
