HWF Promo #18: A Mind Liberating Experience

Does Chris Champion answer to a boss? Where’s your real freedom, Champion? C’mon, you’re quick to point out that we’re the ones caged in by society but you’re just as much a puppet as we are.

Really?

If you actually think that I’m anything like the common man then you’re sadly mistaken. Of course, I do answer to a Boss ultimately. However, I didn’t actually seek a job here in the HWF…they came to me. They came to me and begged just like hundreds of other wrestling Companies did. I made the management sweat whilst I weighed up the alternatives. How many employees have the power to do that? Even after signing the contract, the same people that got me to sign on the dotted line look after my every need just to make sure that rival firms aren’t tempted to try and buy out my contract. I hold the cards. I make the rules.

Speaking of which, rules are another set of moral laws that I despise.

What’s the difference between a law and a rule though? Is a rule merely a guideline? Perhaps by definition. However, in the world of work, that’s not the case. The cycle seems to persecute by using the rule system as its own law. Once again, it’s easy to see that routines trap a man within a confined area. The common man can’t escape either the law or the rules that his place of work put into practise.

And as I sit here and speak of how the world has turned into nothing more than a polluted wasteland, I can’t help but make excuses for it. What other way out his mankind got other than to challenge the invisible walls that have been created around society? The only way to escape the boundaries is to rebel. Let’s break free. Drugs. Thievery. Violence. It’s all about the buzz that you’re able to gain knowing full well that this sort of behaviour would be frowned upon in the Office.

I’m not condoning it though. I still believe that the world is a dirty place. However, I can, on occasions, understand why the rot has set in.

Maybe it is down to the way we’ve our lives though. Perhaps I’m right when I say that the robotic routines are slowly driving mankind to a point whereby anarchy is the only option. There’s a fine line to tread when you consider anarchy and insanity as two parts of one problem. Would you throw a man in jail for torching a Government building simply because he’s been driven mad by the system or would you pass him onto the men in white coats? How are we able to differentiate between a person that actually believes that the only way that his personality can be released and explored is to throw a petrol bomb and a person that does it just for the hell of it? Can the law physically measure whether or not a man is insane? No matter how much crap they’ll try and feed you…it’s medically impossible to one hundred percent sure of anything regarding mental science.

The mechanics of a world that is slowly crumbling are now being shown to be rusty. Wars continue to break out. Children are brutally slaughtered each day for as little as a bus pass. Alcoholics line the streets as they beg for more money to fulfil yet another escape created by drink. The robots can’t quite see the truth from the comfort of their luxurious pent house suites but one day they’ll turn round and wonder why they need that three piece suite to feel a sense of achievement.

A comfortable lifestyle proves nothing anymore. It’s no longer good enough to raise a family and own a Mercedes. The world is beginning to realise that there is no break to the constant routines and rigmaroles of torture that daily life puts us through unless you’re in a position to stand above the crowd.

I stand above the crowd as a guiding light to the world.

I don’t need to steal to gain my release from this life. I don’t need a release. By my own two hands, I’ve sculpted my personal life story and created the figure that you see before you today. That’s why I’ve always had the power; I’ve never lost sight of my goals and my determination will continue to remain iron clad.

And so once again I will act as the saviour of the working man as my function in the HWF becomes the little bit more obvious. You see, with all this angst out there in the world, there are a lot of disgruntled individuals. They probably don’t where to turn or how to deal with it. Instead of reaching for that fire bell in High School, why didn’t you go and play basketball with the rest of the kids? Are you an outcast? Really? An outcast of what in particular? The only society that you belong to is the one that you create for yourself with your transparent mortar and invisible bricks.

By actually using your leisure time productivity, it’s easy to find an escape for your mind. That’s what this is all about. The fact is that advertisements tell us that we should watch baseball, football or some other sport in order to entertain ourselves and pass the time before Monday morning dawns upon us again. Wrestling probably fits into that category to an extent. However, if you said that wrestling was simply just another sport designed to preoccupy the mind until work stars again then that’s where we’d have to disagree.

Wrestling is the art of two spirits battling it out to establish a sense of achievement. Do you think I’d be talking right here and now before this camera if it weren’t related to a title ambition? That’s where I find my sense of achievement. However, the key point for my argument is that wrestling represents the ongoing battle between routine and creativity. As a fan, you often allow your thoughts to wander from the comfort of your home and actually travel to ringside. From there, you’re able to watch a match like never before as each move looks as if it was created solely for your entertainment. It doesn’t stop there though.

Not quite.

As you continue to gaze on at these two giants in the middle of the ring, you slowly place yourself in the position of your chosen favourite. The thought continues to seep in as you actually find yourself standing in the ring squaring up to your enemy. The equation changes once more and this time it’s your opponent’s time to morph. What does he change it? That’s where the element of creativity comes into it. He could be your boss, your lover or, if the thought is intense enough, he could even represent the walls of confinement that have driven you to seek out this level of stimulation.

The possibilities are endless.
