Go-Backs
Typically born in the cold, icy wastelands of Abode, the best way to describe
the Go-Backs is that they live their lives to live them. Death is only a
part of life to the Go-Back people, and at times, it almost seems as if it
is expected for an elf of the tribe to get themselves killed in a blaze of
glory. For a Go-Back to send (though all can) is rare; a gift of magic is
far rarer and often shunned. Lifemating is non-existent, though they do lovemate,
and may keep a particular favorite as a partner. They do not need Recognition
to conceive.
Due to the cold territory in which they live, the Go-Backs have the least
problems with the growing human population, though they have been known to
split into smaller groups when their numbers grow too large.
Sea-Elves
Also known as 'Mer-Elves', these four-fingered beings choose to live by,
or in the sea. Many sea-elves have the power to shape tails for themselves,
as well as the ability to breathe and survive while underwater. Others among
their number lack this ability, so it is suspected that the tailshaping ability
may be hereditary among the sea-elves' numbers. Typical jewelry and adornment
would consist of pearls, shells, anything left ashore. As the sea-elves are
very attached to their natural environment, it would be unlikely for a sea-elf
to be willing to follow the call, though it can happen.
Wolfriders
These wolf-blooded elves live in the Now, for the moment, rarely drawing
upon the past or considering the future. All Wolfriders are descended from
Timmorn Yellow-Eyes, the half-wolf, half-elf son of the High One Timmain.
Due to this, they can mentally bond with wolves, using them as mounts. Their
lupine blood gifts them with sharper senses and reflexes than the pureblooded
elves.
Gliders
Often living in sheltered, stagnating societies, the 'civilized' Gliders
disdain savage ways such as those of the Wolfriders', averse to bloodshed
and death. They all have the hereditary ability to levitate themselves, or
'glide'.
