INTRO

This map was originally created because I got tired of playing Team Deathmatch without anything resembling teamwork. I decided I would create (or rather mod) a map which would require teamwork to be a central part of the gameplay. This map is the result of those efforts. After several weeks of testing for both technical aspects and (more importantly) TEAM playability, I present the first in a series of mods on the original mohdm maps. I hope you enjoy playing this map as much as I enjoyed making it. Good luck and thanks for visiting!

GAMEPLAY

The gameplay on this map consists primarily of conflicts between 2 territories, known as the upper territory and the lower territory (see map above). Typically, a group from one territory will attack the other territory and attempt to capture and hold it. The other team, which has been driven out of their original territory will now find themselves respawning in or near the opposite territory. At this point the groups will have "switched" sides and the whole thing is begun again. Because of the variations and differences each area presents in both defense and offense, numerous strategies are possible. This map offers a variety of environments for battle, from close quarters combat to long-range engagements. The size and variety of the map mean that it can easily accomdate upwards of 32 players without becoming overcrowded. Because of this, weapon specialization is a must. In this way, teamwork is encouraged. Certain types of teamwork are more effective in assaulting or one area over the other. A player or team with good instincts should find this process challenging enough to require strategy and forethought but rewarding enough to encourage continued play.

MATERIEL

Each territory has a weapons/ammo cache located in a central position. Various weapons are located throughout the map, so that all players have access to all weapons, Axis or Allies. Fixed MG42 turrets are placed in strategic positions to assist with territorial defense. Additionally, healthpacks and canteens are placed throughout the map. As a result, firefights tend to be sustained over longer periods of time and teamwork is a more viable option.

DOWNLOAD/SETUP

You may download this map here. This file is the map only. It will not affect any custom sounds, skins, textures, or weapons mods you already have running. It is a server side mod, which means that only the host needs to have it installed for all players to see it and play on it. This map is all about firefights, which means that it probably won't feel right with any 'realism' mods running. For a better experience with this map, I have provided my own Great Siege weapons mod, which I feel is very well suited to this type of map. You may download that mod here.
