What is a Shifter?
They remind me of the Accalians. Are they not the same thing? 
Are they loners, or do they travel in groups?
When do they turn into animals?
Are their animal instinct carried over into their human halves?
Can they have powers? If yes, what?
How can you be Changed into a shifter?
What can kill them?
What happens when they die?
What is a soul-mate?
How does that affect them?
And they are...?
What happens if they find their soul-mate?
What happens if they don’t ever find their soul-mate?
Who/what can be their soul-mates?
A human who has the ability to turn into an animal. Otherwise known as Werewolves, Leopard-men, Hyenamen, Mantigers, Turn-skins, Wendigos, Kelpies, Skinwalkers, Selkies, and so on and so on...
No, they are each a separate species. Shifters are born as humans and react to different situations similar to the ways a normal human would. Accalians are born animals and react more on a Fight or Flight pattern of thought during times of dire need. Please try and not confuse the two.
This depends. Many shifters are not privileged enough to live that close to another shifter, or so many are not sure how to go about approaching another of their kind. They are raised human with human outlooks on life. They will stick close to their human companions for as long as they can for any camaraderie comforts they may need. Because of this many shifters are often depressed.
This question can be answered in many ways. If you are a werewolf then it is obvious that you shall be effected by the pull of the full moon. If you are a were-cat you will be effected by the scent of other felines. If you are a were-fox you will have the freedom of not being controlled by the moon cycle. And so on down the list. Each kind of shifter has their own set of shifting rules.
Though Shifter’s do have animal instincts while in their animal bodies, they are not very honed and very few of them have taken the time to build upon their natural intuitive. When they resume their human bodies none of their instincts or senses will carry over. They will not be humans with super-human hearing or smelling senses. Not possible. To become completely animal you must start off completely human, and vice versa.
No. They can only change between the form of a human and an animal. Nothing more, nothing less.
Again, this depends on the type of shifter. Obviously, werewolves pass on the Change through their salivating bites, while were-cats need only to scratch their victims. Sometimes the change can be achieved through curses or man-made salves. Other shifters, such as Kelpies and Selkies, do not have the ability to pass on their shifter capabilities. It all depends on the creature.
Silver bullets tend to be the favorite weapon against many types of shifters. Different conglomerations of herbs and other plant related drugs are often used to destroy them.
When a shifter dies they will resume their human body.
Sometimes, before a soul takes on its psychical form, it may split in half. Both halves of the soul take on two separate bodies. Mostly one male and one female: so the soul may enjoy and learn from both genders.
Yet, the soul is still broken. Both halves will feel a need to find another half to them. And when they do meet it is said that they should recognize each other immediately.
All are born with the knowledge that they must find their soul-mates. They must; or they will become out of control of their own life. To help encourage them to find their other half, both genders had a set of problems that can only be ‘healed’ after they find their soul-mate.
Both the Females and the Males:
~ Almost like an old B movie, when a shape-shifter changes into its animal form it looses all conscious human thought. Lack of these sensibilities can lead to, depending on the shape-shifter; a werewolf may attack its human counterparts while a Selkie will leap into any body of water it can find.
They regain their human mentality while in their animal form.
You die a horrible, disastrous, bloody, traumatic, very painful death...and you don’t even know it.
Anything. Human, vampire, witch, Accalian, and so on...
