From the smoke filled back room of the local noisy neighborhood bar, a sound wafts through the air, a sound that does not fit its surroundings.  The sound that breathes of flowing streams, golden yellow fields of wheat gently swaying in the breeze, the dance of snow falling in the cold frigid air, of far away places and far away sounds. Pushing through the throng of patrons to get to the source that attracts and intrigues you. That sound is The Filter Kings.
~Wayne Pritchard of Detroit Diesel Dame Productions.
The Filter Kings instituted by rockabilly lynchpin Gino, have embraced an oddly appealing soft of guitar and stringed harp-driven, Tin Pan Alley-style jazz sound.  Sultry, sexy and very inviting -- their live show is almost a cabaret kind of affair.
~Wendy Case, Detroit News.DETROIT NEWS ARTICLE #2:
The Filter Kings have a decidedly distinct type of sound going on, what with Gino sitting down and strumming the guitar, Mel strumming an enormous harp, Tony playing trombone, and a keyboard and upright base thrown in for good measure.  Also on stage when I wandered in was Eve, belting out "Summertime," with the band.
~Casey Coston, Metrotimes.
