Joining the Children of the Light
7/12 Kesumi
Followers of the Light,
Recently many youngsters have approached me with stars in eyes, enquiring of me whether the Children of the Light are recruiting and how they might become Children of the Light.
The answer is simple.
We will consider anyone at any time. However we reserve the right to refuse or deny entry as we see fit.
You will need to be 25 times more experienced than the common man, (and if succesful in appyling while apprenticed you must rise to at least 30 before being clanned).
You will write us a detailed application letter regarding yourself, your background and your reason for application. Any cliched or particularly poorly written rubbish that finds its way into our mailbox will be read once and promptly thrown in the nearest fireplace and forgotten. Do not take this warning lightly, making a good first impressions is very important.
After you send your application you will be patient and wait until we contact you. A wise applicant would have already relocated to Amador and attempted to impress us with their eagerness and loyalty to the Light well before we get around to replying to their Application.
It should be noted that those lucky enough to become apprentices are expected to develop a keen knowledge of the lands surrounding Amadicia before they are drafted fully into the ranks of the Children. Apprentices should also be committed to behaving in a manner that befits a Child of Light at all times, this includes respecting superiors and carrying one's self in a dignified and organised manner befitting a military organisation.
If you cannot meet these challenges you should not bother to apply, as you will find all that awaits you is disappointment.
If however you are up to the task and ready to do the Light's bidding in these troubled times, we look forward to hearing from you.
In the Light
Lord Kesumi Calhar Ay'hizhid
Lieutenant, Council of the Annointed
The Anointed Council of the Light
Are you willing to dedicate your life to the Light? Searching for a place where Darkfriends are met with a swift sword? Where people fight as one and die as one, with pride, for their homes and for their families? Where your cries for help are not met with a deaf ear, and where the well-being of all is of concern to all? Then you are welcomed to join the Children of the Light. Write a note to our recruitment officer, Child Daal for further information.
2/17 Lochaber
Effective immediately, the Captain of the Amador Guard (Tomasz) will no longer be handling the affairs of the Amadician Army. Please forward all requests/questions/correspondence/etc. to me, Child Lochaber, via forum mail, as I am taking over his duties.
Also, in an effort to trim up the ranks, we are trying to figure out who amongst you is no longer active. To that end, if you are actively serving the Light, please send me a forum mail to indicate it. You will all have two weeks in which to contact me. For those that do not, they will be removed from the roster of the Amadician Army .
Djal Baldir's FAQ:
This is fairly old, but still holds some relevant info. Some of it may not be the same now, so please use this for a global idea only.
What is the minimum level you must be to join the Children?
You may apply to join the Children at level 20 but you must have reached level 30 before you can be clanned into the Children proper. The Children will of course help you to reach these levels if they seem daunting to you.
Who can join the Children?
Any warrior, hunter or rogue who has no warrants, excepting Tar Valon and the Seanchan Empire and is of sound body and mind may join the Children.
What zones do I need to know to apply?
It would be best if you knew where Amador is obviously! That's where we are based. Basic knowledge of the Two Rivers would also be helpful. But don't worry to much about this because we will teach you all you need to know.
Where are the Children based?
We are different from the normal standing armies you see around the world. We are not tied to one land rather we defend the Light throughout the world. We just happen to be based in Amador atm, previously we had a fort in Whitebridge but the Tower witches burnt that to the ground.
Do you hunt Novices of the White Tower?
We do not hunt Novices for we believe them young and easily manipulated yet there is hope that they may return to the Light.
But what about hunting Accepteds?
They have sworn themselves body and soul to the tower and hence to the Dark by passing through the Arches. Therefore they shall be hunted like the darkfriends they are.
And what about the Wisdoms?
A: Wisdoms are an interesting case. we take each Wisdom on a case by case basis. not all can channel and those that can't are valuable members of the community. If they are seen to be able to channel they are banned from the Child Protectorates upon pain of death. Wisdoms such as Zahra, Kerrin and Mairead are very welcome guests in the Child Protectorates. Indeed the Lord Captain Commander had a special Ogier sized room installed to accomadate Mairead on her visits
Is it true, though, that you tend to distrust those who heal, even if only with (or only claiming to use) herbs?
A: Most Children suffer injury in battle at some time and skillful untainted healers are precious to us.
Why is channeling wrong?
The One power is a tainted sword, after each use you taint your soul. You may accomplish some good in the short term, but in the long run you are selling your soul to the Dark One. It is a poison that builds gradually in the blood and cannot be removed once it infects you.
Do the Children exist solely to destroy the Tower?
No. The Children have a larger focus than merely destroying the Tower. The Seanchan are our major concern at the moment. They seek to overrun us all and enslave the world. The fight against the Shadow is one for your soul and is the greatest battle. But we must be free to fight that great battle and the Seanchan seek to chain our freedom, we cannot allow this to happen. We also expend great energies seeking out the darkfriends hidden in our midst but this is the main concern of the Hand of the Light.
Who are the Hand of the Light?
A: The High Inquisitor, Rhadam Asunawa, ranks only slightly below the Lord Captain Commander. Though command for the military originates with the council, he alone issues the orders for the investigative Hand of the Light. Members of the Hand serve as interrogators or as occupation forces, Tanchico would be an example of this. Known amongst themselves as the Hand that digs out the truth, they are more often disparagingly known to others as the Questioners. Though this name is disrespectful and should never be used. Only those who have achieved the rank of Second Bannerman in the Children are eligible to be tested for the Hand of the Light.
Do I have to know every zone in the world before I can apply for the Children?
As a potential member of the Children you will be taught the lay of the land in detail from everywhere south of Baerlon and west of Altara. Knowledge such as this can be learnt and do not worry to much if you are not familiar with these zones before you apply. It is the right attitude and a willingness to learn that are the important qualities we seek in new applicants.
What if the Children captured a damane from the Seanchan?
A: Damane apparently are forced to channel. They didn't make a conscious decision to do so. But they, unfortunately for them, have been tainted. We must therefore with a heavy heart send them to the Creator, for his judgement and to cleanse their souls. We pray for them as they were victims of a terrible abuse. Unlike the Tower witches who made the decision to channel.
Q: Do you have minimum age or time played requirements?
A: We have no time played min or age minimums. We're here to have fun and think things like that set that back.
Q: Why do you play a Child of the Light character as a player?
A: The main thing i'd say about being a Child is that it's so much damn fun. Everyone in the clan knows each other and we group up together. It's not like other clans where you've no idea who half the folks on the clan roster are. *****ery is at an absolute minimum, not because of any policy but because that's not the atmosphere in the clan. There was one incident recently but both sides "Saw the Light" so to speak and shook hands and it's over now. There's no rank racing either i mean look at the glut of rank 4 and 5's. People are happy just to be in the clan and have fun with their mates. There's no big rush to reach rank 6 or become a master, plenty of other clans if you wanna do that like the Gaidin and Shienaran Lancers who have nice rank based bonuses. We don't have bonuses so we don't attract FN's only people who are in it for the right reasons. Our RP is fairly strict but everyone knows what a Child is like before they join. For instance we don't allow Children to swear in public or make sexual remarks in public. You can have relationships but you must keep that behind closed doors.
Must we adopted Amador as our 'home' city or are we free to wonder the world as we please?
A: The Children are free to roam wherever the Light shines or needs to be shone.
Which lands do the Children control?
A: The Child Protectorates is the collective name for the lands where we hold direct control. They're Amadicia, Amador, the Misty Mountains around the Mountain King and Kennel Keeper, Touchan & The Darkwood and Tarabon. We also protect the village of Glancour, which lies south of Caemlyn, as per arrangement with the local Wisdom Ellana.
How does one begin the process of becoming a Child?
A: Mail Lochaber outlining why you wish to join and your background. The Recruitment Officer will then contact you outlining what is required of you as a member of the Amadician Army and set you up on the armies web forum.
