A junior tournament was held
tonight (31 May). 12 entries played in 3 groups of 4 players. <Full
Results>
Summary of the results:
Group A: Chris Yu 3, Phillip Jones 2, Anthony Ji ½, Rishabh
Bhandari ½
Group B: Sean Purdon 2, Matthew Cannon 1½, Thomas Robinson 1½,
Chris Rowe 1
Group C: Morgan Groth 3, Jacob Gatt 2, Thomas Mellor 1, Benjamin
Cox 0
It should be mentioned that
Morgan and Benjamin were first nighters, and that Benjamin won a replay of one
of his games, thereby ensuring that no one lost all of their games on the
night.
The Gap club won all 5 games
against the visiting side comprising of old club stalwart Ray Adams and 4 of
his friends from the BCF. Despite the one-sidedness of the result, a whitewash
it certainly was not. All games were hotly contested and a few went right down
to the wire. Time controls were 90 minutes on the clock to make all moves.

A few games were played with James having an amazing run of success, unparalleled in anything that had gone before. At one stage he was involved in 4 successful pairings. Two of the BCF visitors, Luke and Brendan (a transfer novice) stayed for a few transfer games, and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable time. While the results were shared around and everyone had a few wins, James seemed be involved in a disproportional number of winning pairings. Has the tide turned??
