DOP’s note (from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam!): “Peter Hiller once again did not attend on Friday night, putting his straightforward march to the Maiden Trophy at risk. He must now score at least a draw next week against Doug to win the Maiden. Failure to do so will see a 3-way play-off to decide the winner of the Maiden Trophy, between Peter, Michael Hussey and John Curran. In the other game, George clinched 3^rd place with his win over Harvey.”

Brian’s report: “Tonight George beat Harvey in a typically aggressive game that lasted about 23 moves. The post mortem suggested that the powerful attack ending in mate was not quite sound, that Harvey could have blunted it with precise play. With George a piece down this could have changed the result. But of course hindsight is not match sight.Harvey then offered to play his game with Brian,who cravenly declined on the grounds that it was 9.10 and he had been playing taxing lightning with Chris for half an hour….
With the 60 minute games over before 9.15 the club turned on the fascistic DOP by taking advantage of his absence to prematurely play Allegro tournament games."
