In the play-off for second place, both players threw away winning chances. Ben offered a draw with 5 minutes left on his clock. Harvey declined and the position progressed to: {W: Kg4 Rd8 f3; B: Ke5 Bf4 c5 g5 h4} at which stage Harvey (black) wins easily simply by progressing his c pawn. However he did not pursue this option and ended up losing 2 pawns for nothing and then had to hold on desparately for a draw. Ben missed a few sharp winning chances in time trouble and so the pair finished equal second.
