In a crunch game Andrew won
both games against George. Andrew won the first game conclusively ending up
with half a dozen passed pawns. In the second game George had a strong
positional advantage, but made a blunder due what he put down to the tension of
the game.
Andrew’s other game was
against Harvey. Harvey had a strong initiative in the first game, but
perhaps played overcautiously allowing Andrew to break back into the game. Harvey did
not play so well in the second game, losing pawns for no compensation in the
middle game.
Brian managed a draw in his
first game with Harvey due to what he claimed was brilliant positional
play. What actually happened is that Brian was left with a king that couldn’t
move and a rook that continually checked and harassed Harvey’s
king around the board. Harvey, not being able to avoid capturing the rook and
giving stalemate, conceded the draw.
