These trips only keep getting better! |

The 2005 Tyee Tour began July 22, with Tyler Smith & myself stopping to visit the Hourston's in Smuggler Cove near Sechelt. The hospitality was so enjoyable we stayed the first night there. The following day we picked up our 3rd. crew member Randall Dayton in Campbell RIver and carried on towards Port Hardy. |

New life in the Good Ol'' Boys With the efforts of the crew & friends “The Good Ol’ Boys” received a significant upgrade this spring in the way of a new 200 HP. Volvo 41 series turbocharged diesel engine. The relatively small increase in power (about 25%) changes the dynamics of the old boat significantly, necessitating a new way to think about covering distances. Now with a 27 knot cruise and superior fuel economy we really eat up charts on long transits. Furthermore the boat’s handling is improved, with the extra speed providing additional lift when planning, the trim angle flattens out and the craft is nimble & responsive despite all the weight of extra gear required on the Tyee Tour. The new power considerably changes how we conduct business on board The Good Ol’ Boys. Thanks to all who contributed to the retrofit. |

Duncan Innes a rookie to the tour but an extremely enthusiastic boater non the less flew into Hakai Pass to join us, here seen with Randall salivating over some of Ben Angus' Hakai prawns. When ever in Hakai Ben & his crew from the Hakai Land & Sea Society roll out the red carpet for The Good Ol' Boys |
