On a day too stormy for transiting on the outer coast we decided to take the inside passage on our way north and make a relaxing stop over at the Bishop Bay hot springs off Ursula Channel near Kitimat. Leif Nelson, Ross Bonetti, Elly, Zev, and Paul chill out in the Hotties.
Bishop Bay hot springs is a small facility maintained by the BC Parks Service. There is a small dock, boardwalks and hot tubs. The indoor tub is within this concrete block, natural rock and wood shed. The water is odorless and warm, 90-95F.
Lee Uhrich & Paul explore ashore on a small island in the mouth of Kingkown Inlet on west side of Banks Island in the Hecate Strait. This beach has a southern facing exposure therefore the prevailing SE winds drive debris onto it. Lee and I beachcombed for Japanese glass fishing floats along the upper edge of the beach where the high water meets the Salal and forest.
We discovered a wide range of plastic and assorted garbage from Japanese Whiskey bottles to Chinese Soya sauce jugs. Amongst the litter we did eventually find a small glass float ball, a fishing lure and plastic net float.
