A Study into the Ancient Race of the Necrotyr, authored by 4D

Necrontyr Warriors

'the Necrons, or Necrontyr are a biologically dead race that was wiped out in a galaxy wide catastrophe aprroximately 60 million years ago. Faced with extinction the Necrons constructed metal bodies as repositories for their hyper-advanced minds. To weather the inpending galactic bio-meltdown the Necrons constructed huge stasis chambers to shelter inside. They have been there ever since, waiting until such a time that the galaxy was safe for them to emerge.'

The discovery and disturbance of these stasis chambers, most commonly Pyramids, has lead to isolated emergances of the Necrontyr and their creations, across the galaxy.

Special Rules

Disruptor field: All hi-tech weapons (guns, power swords etc.- NOT bows or swords) within the field (radius of 4 yds from the warrior) suffer a -20% to hit modifier as their systems are disrupted. Hi-tech equipment will cease to function on a roll of 1-4 on D6. Close Combat weapons only count as a normal weapon of their type if affected in this way.

Completely Robotic: It is not known wether this statement is true, as no Necrons have been captured for long enough to study them, but it appears that they are completely robotic, and just have a bionic equivilent to their brains. Therefore, Necrons are completely immune to the effects of all Toxins and Viral infections. However, they can still bleed like a normal character, this represents their vital fluids leaking etc...

The Necrontyr Gauss Flayer The rules given in the rulebook are those for the power of a Gauss Flayer when weilded by a non-necrontyr character, and have to be modified by the Adeptus Mechanicus to work in human hands. When in the possession of Necrontyr they are connected to the Necron's mysterious power source. This is far more potent that that of any Imperial source and so the gun can be more distructive. The stats for the Gauss Flayers weilded by Necrons, therefore do 2D10 + 4 damage per hit. All other stats remain the same.

Head Positioning: As illustrated, the Necrontyr constructs have a low-hung head. The 'neck' appears to be unable to lift above shoulder height. This has a number of implications in game terms.
Firstly, although Necrons have various scanners, they are limited to a 120 degree fire arc from the head. All scanners operate on passive and in the 120 degree arc. All awareness tests suffer as a closed helm from behind, and as a open helm from either side (but not in arc)

Secondly, the hit location chart is modified with low head characters. When making attacks or shooting from behind, the hit location does not include the head. Count any head hits as chest hits instead.

N.B. This could be used for other creatures too - Ork for example...

*GM Note* - The Necrontyr Make Good NPC's - Use them to counter unfair play!
++Also, all persons involved should note that Necrons are not very light on their feet, and shouldn't sprint, don't land very well from falling, and won't go leaping off walkways to get to people - they tend to teleport around, and they're very suseptable to difficult terrain. GM's should restrict movement and actions where they see fit, and add or subtract modifiers also...++
