LightSabres!
Powered Frames.
Think Spyers from Necromunda.
I tried writing themed fluff for them and it was crap.
I tried normal fluff, and it was crap. I can think it but I can't type it, so here's the
best your gonna get. Frames are exoskeletons that the user wears as a sort of stripped down
power armour.
Your basic frame gives support etc to a character, and is usually used after
serious injury, often just so they can stand up again. This type will give you no real
benefit in game terms, its just a nice excuse for a guy who previously had two broken legs
to return to battle within a few months.
Powered frames are what spyers use and are
generally full body braces augmented with pistons, pneumatics and other stuff to increase
the wearer’s strength and speed. This type can be anything from just enough to get you
moving to those ones you saw in aliens (enough to fight a 'nid!?) Frames do not have much
in the way of armour or protection unless the wearer equips it. They can also be modified
to include non human layouts i.e. Wings, magnetic feet or huge claws...
Anyway, I forgot what else I was gonna write...
Powered Frame Rules
-
Confers a strength increase of one fifth (+20%) to the wearer, plus an additional 1 point of
armour to all locations where frame is present (usually all over)*
-
Can be worn under or over most types of clothing.
-
Unarmed attacks count as attacks with knuckle dusters (D3+3)
-
Additional equipment can be mounted into the frame, such as force fields or digit weapons
-
Critical hits on the character mean that the frame has also been critically hit and
consequently gears, pneumatics and stuff stop working causing appropriate hindrance to the
character. (think along the lines of bolas entanglement or a reduction of 1/5th movement
rates/strength)
-
Characters with frames can use them for support if, for example they suffer serious damage
to their body. i.e. a character who suffers a critical wound to the leg might still be able
to stand (if he hadn't succumbed to the pain)
In addition to this, the frame can also have a number of improvements to normal physical
abilities, a couple of which I have thought of below;
Running feet;
The legs of the frame have been modified from the knee down, taking ideas from the
(kangaroo) where the weight is on the ball of the feet, and a complex system of 'tendons'
are arranged so to give maximum (movement) for your energy. Characters movement rates and
jumping distances are increased by 50% and height is increased by around 1'
However, take into account the smaller surface area of the feet in game.
Magnetic Shoes;
Electromagnets are incorporated into not just the feet but the whole design of the frame...
thus characters might be able to scale metal walls etc?
And btw its electromagnets so don't
go thinking every bullet, weapon and piece of metal in the game is gonna come flying towards
you instantly. :D
