James Clavell's Asian Saga helped get me through many a sleepless night.
In fact, it created more than a few of those sleepless nights.
To say I had a hard time putting them down would be an understatement.
Beginning with Shogun, Clavell who lived for years in the area he is so famous for writing about, immerses the reader in a world of feudal wars and noble pursuits that are as foreign to westerners as they are exciting.
Read these books. Trust me.
I must caution you, these novels will not let you go until you've finished all of them.
Admittedly Whirlwind, the last of the series, is weak in comparison to the rest, but it should be read, if only to give you a sense of closure.
