My Tubal Reversal Story Page 19 |
No grocery shopping, no going to the mall, no nothing besides eating, drinking and resting. I am glad she didn't decide to put me on partial bed rest! I will be good and do what I am supposed to do!! I can't imagine sitting home for the next 8 1/2 weeks. Really, my job is not physically difficult, I pretty much sit here behind this desk most of the day, I will just have to make all of my trips around the office count! Tonight will be Jon's first trip grocery shopping all by himself. I hope it goes OK for him. He and I usually go together, so at least he is familiar with what we usually get. Oh my, I completely forgot to mention the weekend we had! Jon and Ed worked it out for Jon to go visit him in Minneapolis from Thursday to Sunday this past weekend. We figured it would be a good time to go, and most probably the last chance in a good long time with Bean coming in a couple of months. So, he left Thursday morning. No problem, right? Figured it would be good for both of us to have some time away from each other and a chance to miss each other. Well, things went smoothly till that night. After putting the kids to bed, and not too late I might add, I was lying in bed reading, and I heard Jacob crying. I went in and he told me he hit his ear on the bunk bed ladder and that it hurt. I talked to him and kissed the ouchie, and put him back to bed. Long story short - the night continued like this all night long. Me falling asleep just to hear him crying and then tucking him back in. I got him up several times and looked in his ears, no drainage - I should have known better. About 4:30am, he comes into my room and shows me his index finger, covered in something dark, and says, "Mommy, what is this?!?!" I asked him where it came from and when he told me his ear, I had that sinking feeling, knowing we were in for a trip to the doctor and much else. I had taken his temp during the night and no fever, but when I took it at 4:30, it was 102. So, got Ari and Alexa to school when it was time for them to get up and just drove on to the doctor's office and asked if they would see him. By this time, after the gob of ear wax had come out, the fluid, pus and ear wax was just literally dripping from his ear. I felt so bad for him, he went through tissue after tissue wiping it up from his ear, his face, and his neck. Turned out that he not only had a bad ear infection, but a sinus infection as well. He was just so pitiful, his little face was full of misery. I took him with me to work to get some stuff done for a little while, then we picked up his prescriptions and I took him home. Bear in mind, I was running on empty, less than 45 minutes of sleep all together is what I managed to get the night before with him up all night. I was exhausted, and so was he. He wouldn't eat and finally fell asleep on the couch, but sleep was not in the picture for me yet - every time I would doze off, the phone would ring, someone would knock at the door, the lawn mowers and leaf blowers would be right outside my door - you name it. Finally about 3:30 I made a cup of coffee and settled in for the long haul till bedtime. By the time Jon called that evening, I was at the end of my emotional and mental rope, I was a basket case, exhausted and just a mess. I finally got Jake to eat an egg sandwich that evening, and the drugs started kicking in, but man it was a tough time! |
