6 June 2002 36 Weeks 4 Days 8 more days of work after today...ahhh, how nice that thought is. I decided to make the 18th my last day here, so that I can spend all day on the 19th with the kids, and also that will mean they only go 2 days that week to daycare, so it will only be 1/2 tuition instead of sending them 3 days and paying a full week. I am ready, that much I do know. I am planning on staying home this weekend and cleaning some, and resting the remainder of the weekend. Jacob's birthday party and Fathers Day are both the following weekend on the 16th, so that will be a busy weekend. Right now, it is the same story...just tired all of the time. Guess that is good, in that it helps to prepare me for the sleepless nights ahead. 14 June 2002 37 Weeks 5 Days Well, I am back from the doctor. No bad news, not really - just annoying! :) She checked my cervix and...NO dilation!! I told her I couldn't believe all of that pain was for nothing! She said it's the body's idea of a cruel joke - with each subsequent pregnancy, the Braxton Hicks contractions get stronger and more painful, but they do nothing to dilate the cervix. She said this is one happy baby, and she doesn't want to budge! She wasn't at all surprised at how much I told her the contractions hurt, but unfortunately I am just going to have to put up with them and we are going on with the c-section on Thursday as planned. I have officially now gained one pound - over pre-pregnancy weight, that is! Also, she read my Birth Plan, and told me something that made Jon extremely happy - apparently the rules have changed since Jackie was there to take pictures at Alexa's birth. Jon is not allowed to take any pictures of the actual operation, he can only take pictures of Bean AFTER she is born and all the way out. She said it's a legal thing. She also said they will hand Jon the baby after she is out, and he can show her to me, but I will not be able to hold her until the Recovery Room. Then they will only bring her for a short time to me in the Recovery Room so we can try breastfeeding. She will then have to spend 3-4 hours in the newborn nursery to be watched. Being a c-section baby, they have more mucous from not being passed through the birth canal and require a little more initial watching. After that, she can stay in the room with us, and Jon can stay the entire time in the hospital with me. |
