My Tubal Reversal Story Page 27 |
18 June 2002 38 Weeks 2 Days Well, here we are...my last day at work till the end of August. Ahhhhh. Yesterday was very hectic working with Hortense on the insurance renewal, and I ended up leaving at 3:00 in order to drop off insurance papers at Wylie, Garland and Rowlett stores. Even so, I got home only 10 minutes earlier than normal. I am ready for today to be a nice, smooth easy day. So far, so good...knock on wood. Tonight I get to drink the bottle of Magnesium Citrate - yippee! Can you read the sarcasm? Better to do that than the enema, though. Ick! 1 July 2002 Kathryn Anne's Birth Story We had a c-section scheduled for 12:30pm on June 20th at St. Paul Hospital. We left the house at about 8:30am and stopped at Wal Mart on the way to get some magazines to read, figuring that the c-section would start late like my previous 3 had. We got to the hospital about 9:50am, and they got us right into a room in Labor and Delivery. I got changed into a hospital gown, dipped the ends of it in the toilet on accident, and went right on to change into gown #2. Jon took lots of pictures, and the nurses got my IV started, hooked me up to the fetal monitor, and finished shaving my bikini area and stomach. I had shaved the day before, but not being able to see the bikini area, I had missed some spots! I was having some contractions while lying there, but nothing too bad. Soon Dr. Aum, the anesthesiologist, was there ready to start my epidural. I asked him how long he had worked there, because he looked so familiar to me - he had been there since 1992, so I soon realized he had been the one to do my epidural with Alexa in 1995. He was super nice. I talked with him about the benefits of an epidural versus a spinal, and he went on to tell me that when he does an epidural, he also administers a spinal shot as well. So, he had me sit up on the bed, and began the process of inserting the epidural while Jon took pictures. It wasn't bad at all during the insertion, but when he was done he warned me that I may begin to feel lightheaded or nauseous, and to let him know if this happened. I told him I felt a bit nauseous, but nothing major. The nurse, Sandra, had me lie on my right side for a few minutes, then brought the Foley catheter kit. That's when all hell broke loose! As soon as she rolled me onto my back, I felt something major had happened - I was shaky and nauseous, dizzy and lightheaded all of a sudden. Sandra checked my blood pressure, which had suddenly dropped down to something (I forgot the top number) over 48! She ran to get Dr. Aum, who came in and gave me some meds through my IV or epidural line, not sure which. They rolled me back onto my side and then we just waited. Well, I say we waited - me, I was trying my best NOT to throw up! I had the little pink emesis bowl, and thought for sure I was going to puke. I broke out in a sweat and felt so terrible! About 10 minutes later it finally got better as the meds kicked in, but it was very scary at the time! |
